Glider aerobatics: The world turns upside down
Experience an aerobatic display as seen at air shows. What does it feel like to fly upside down in a glider? What happens during a looping manoeuvre? And what does a roll look like from the cockpit? You can experience all this and more on a glider aerobatics flight.

Schänis airfield is the ideal starting point for flights into the Alps or the foothills of the Alps. Shortly after take-off, you will enjoy an unrivalled view of Lake Zurich - the Zurich Oberland - and the panorama of the Eastern Alps. You choose the flight route. You tell the pilot what you want to see. And don't forget your camera - it's worth it.

1. Book the flight of your choice
Book a unique experience for yourself or someone else now! You will then receive a voucher for the flight of your choice (gliding, aerobatics or powered flight), which looks like an official boarding pass. Of course, our flights are only operated by experienced passenger pilots and once purchased, vouchers are valid for 5 years!
Option: Gift voucher as a present
You can also order the voucher for someone else. We will then create a voucher with the recipient's name on it.
You will receive the voucher / boarding pass by e-mail no later than one hour after your order.
2. set your preferred date
Whether the flight can take place on this date naturally depends on the weather. Your passenger pilot will contact you to discuss all the details. We always find a good solution.

Who will I fly with?
We have very experienced passenger pilots at Schänis airfield. They are all trained and licensed by EASA and FOCA to carry passengers. They also have higher medical requirements for their health.
What should I wear?
You will need clothing to protect you from the wind on the ground. Clothing that you would normally wear for walking is suitable. Sturdy shoes, trainers or trekking boots fit very well. Sun protection is always a good idea. Sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat will help prevent sunburn. Always wear trousers. In the glider you will be wearing a parachute for your safety.
Am I allowed to take photos, take selfies, post?
Discuss your intentions with the pilot. In principle, and in calm weather, it is perfectly possible and desirable to take photographs or film. We also encourage you to post on your social media channels. Of course, we also appreciate it if you tag us with #flugplatzschaenis.
Can the flight be cancelled?
Due to changes in the weather, your flight may have to be cancelled. We will contact you and consider a new date. Your voucher will of course remain valid.
What do I do if I feel ill?
Your passenger pilot is trained to give you the best possible flying experience. If you can't stand flying in a small aircraft, you'll feel it very quickly. Tell your pilot. Your pilot will also keep an eye on your well-being. Tell her if you're not feeling well. This will enable you to land in Schänis as soon as possible.
What happens if we have to land at another airfield?
The weather is a very important factor in flying. Due to a change in the weather, clouds or a thunderstorm, the pilot may decide to land at another airfield. Of course, we will do everything we can to get you back to Schänis or home as quickly as possible. However, we ask for your understanding and flexibility in such situations
Can I cancel the flight?
You can cancel your flight up to 3 days in advance. We will consider rescheduling. Please contact us on 055 250 5000 or via info@flugplatz-schaenis.ch. If you need to cancel later, our planning is already well advanced. The aircraft has been reserved for you and the pilot has been booked. In this case we will unfortunately have to cancel the voucher. If the flight is cancelled by the pilot, the voucher remains valid.
Can I transfer or return the voucher?
Vouchers from Schänis Airfield make payment transactions easier for us. They are freely transferable. Vouchers can be rebooked free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed flight date.
What happens if the price of the flight goes up?
Vouchers issued by Schänis Airfield entitle the holder to take the flight specified on the voucher. In the event of subsequent price increases, no additional payments are due.
How long is a voucher valid?
The Schänis Airfield voucher is valid for 5 years. After 5 years the value of the voucher expires. Vouchers can be used for other offers or transferred to another person at any time.
How am I insured?
By purchasing a voucher from Schänis Airfield, the passenger acknowledges the risks of gliding. Students are covered by the flight school's liability insurance. Passengers sign a flight agreement which regulates the liability of Schänis airfield. Further insurance is the responsibility of the passenger.
What do I have to do if I am under 18?
Young people under the age of 18 require the signature of a legal representative. Please bring the declaration of consent with you.
