TRIAL DAYS
IN SCHÄNIS
It is important to us that you make a well-informed decision as to whether, where, when and how you would like to start your training. Trial days are the ideal introduction if you are not yet sure whether gliding is a sport for you.
We want to show you what makes gliding so fascinating. Flying for several hours, up to 1000 kilometres and to altitudes of 7000 metres or more, using only the power of thermals and wind. On a trial day, you will experience everything that gliding has to offer: The atmosphere at the airfield, the theory and, of course, a flight with an experienced instructor.
You can see the possible dates in the calendar (marked in green). Below you will find all the frequently asked questions and answers about the trial days. And if you still need to find out more, feel free to email us at
ATTENTION: Please check our confirmation email after payment. This will allow you to book your preferred date and receive all the information you need before our Welcome Briefing.

BASIC TRAINING
IN SCHÄNIS
Between March and October, flight instructors are available every other week for basic training. You can find the exact dates in the calendar or on the registration form.
After a basic course or around 50 flights, depending on progress, a student pilot can fly a glider on their own.
Basic training includes take-off and landing, towing, slope- and thermal flying, hazard briefings and cross-country flying.
This is followed by further training on a single seat glider and extended flights solo on board. Your instructor will encourage you to enjoy gliding and will give you an insight into the possibilities of the sport with extended flights already during your training.
