Gliding is more than just a hobby: if you want to, you can make full use of your personal skills at the airfield. Of course, this is not always possible and not for everyone. We fully understand that.
What personal flying goals would you like to pursue?
- Flying with the Segelfluggruppe Lägern (SGL) is possible with or without your own aircraft. As a full member, you can also benefit from the largest and most modern fleet in Switzerland even on a peak day. We offer you a professional infrastructure for cross-country flights and customised training opportunities.
- The Oldtimer Club Schänis (OCS) looks after the beautiful historic gliders. Vintage gliders need a lot of love and attention. In return, they reward you with the best climb rates and the incomparable pioneering feeling.
- The Swiss Aerobatic Gliding Association (SAGA) is the centre of excellence for Swiss aerobatic gliding. It has two aerobatic gliders in Schänis: the MDM-1 Fox and the new SZD-59-1 Acro.
- The Elektro-Hängegleiterverein Schänis (EHGS) is the youngest club at the Schänis airfield.

SG Lägern is the largest gliding club at Schänis airfield.
A membership costs CHF 2,000 per year as a full flat rate (reduced rates under 25 years of age, for unemployed persons, with your own or a club aeroplane).

The Oldtimer Club Schänis (OCS) has its own fleet of vintage aircraft.
Membership is CHF 300 per year. This includes 10 flying hours with a classic glider. Passive membership costs CHF 60 and patronage CHF 30 per year.

The Swiss Aerobatic Gliding Association (SAGA) is the competence centre for aerobatics within the gliding association.

If you would like to fly as an electric hang glider pilot at Schänis airfield, you must be a member of the EHGS. After a briefing, you will receive your permanent flying licence for Schänis airfield.
